Attorney, John Milton Meadows is a lifelong resident of the Upper Cumberland. A graduate of Tennessee Tech University with degrees in both Sociology and Criminal Justice, John began working in the juvenile justice/child welfare field immediately following graduation. John later attended law school at the Nashville School of Law where he graduated with honors in 2003.  Upon graduation from law school, John became Assistant General Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Children's Services where he was responsible for prosecuting dependency and neglect and termination of parental right proceedings in several counties throughout the Upper Cumberland. John later became a contract attorney with the Public Defender's Office for Tennessee's Thirteenth Judicial District where he was responsible for DUI trials in Putnam County and eventually became a full-time Assistant Public Defender responsible for the General Sessions and Criminal Court dockets in Overton and White Counties. Since leaving public service work in 2008, John has maintained a private law practice based out of Livingston, Tennessee and represents clients throughout the Upper Cumberland Region. John practices primarily in the areas of Family Law, Criminal Defense, Civil Litigation and Probate/Estate law.  In 2017, John was approved by the Tennessee Supreme Court's Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission to be a Rule 31 Listed Mediator in the field of Family Mediation and began providing  Family Law Mediation Services. In addition to his private law practice, John has served as the City Attorney for the Town of Livingston since 2008; He served as Attorney for the White County Emergency Communications District from 2012-2014; and he has served as the County Attorney for White County, Tennessee since 2014. John is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association.
